we have
a number of Activity Groups that meet regularly throughout
the month. This allows moms to meet other moms on an even
more personal level who share some of the same interests while the kids get together and play. We also have
committees whose members help out and participate whenever
they are needed. Currently, our activity groups and
committees include the following:
Helping Hands:
When any mom in the chapter needs support after a new baby
is born, during an illness, or other time of need, this
groups jumps in to give support in the way of dinners, child
care or whatever is needed. It really is an easy way to
show how much you care!
Kids Craft Day:
Kids Craft Day is a hands-on activity geared towards the
ability of our kids. Past activities have included garden
critters made out of egg cartons, hand-print gifts for
Mother's and Father's Day, macaroni necklaces and hand crafted
musical instruments. Even the younger ones can participate
in our activities!
MOMS Night Out:
Once a month, we take a break for the kids when dads can
stay home with them and get together with the other moms for
a night of fun! Different activities have included
going out to a restaurant, out for a
movie, bowling, to a members home for a night of games,
pizza and a movie, a shopping trip to Katy Mills mall for
some holiday shopping and much more! We always have lots of
fun no matter what we do and it's a great way to talk to
other moms "one-on-one"!
Playgroups:
Playgroups are a terrific way for moms to get their
children together with other children the same (or close to) age
as yours. We have playgroups for kids of all ages;
from newborns on up.
If you have more than one child, we also have sibling
playgroups for mixed ages.
Playgroups are also a great place to talk to other
moms who are going through the same stages that you are with
your children and swap tips and ideas. Playgroups meet
once per week and often meets in a member's home, at a park
or some other fun place!
Secret Sisters:
This is a fun activity for the moms only and is completely
optional (like anything!). Participants have a secret
sister in our chapter for 6 months. During that time you
try to brighten her days by doing a couple thoughtful things
each month like dropping a card in the mail, bringing
cookies for her at the monthly meeting, etc. (The trick is
trying to keep your Secret Sister from discovering who you
are!) After 6 months we have a Revealing Party where you
inform your sister of your identity. By participating, you
are also another Mom's secret sister. This group is so
much fun and brings moms closer together as friends!
Welcome Committee:
Remember how scary it is to join a new group and not know
anyone? Well, the Welcome Committee works to make sure that
doesn't happen with our MOMS Club! We have recently started
a new
The Big
Sister Program (BSP) is a new effort in reaching out and
welcoming in the newest members of the MOMS Club®. Members
who volunteer for the BSP make and deliver one dozen cookies
along with a welcome packet (provided by the Welcome
Committee) and provide one month of mentoring to help out our newest friends!
The big sisters help with such
things as:
-
Being available to answer questions
-
Going
to a group activity together (such as a
Mixer)
-
Introducing them to other members
